There’s nothing worse than a great bottle of wine going to waste. Unfortunately, many of us don’t want to drink a full bottle of wine in one sitting, but we also don’t want the wine to go bad. Fear not, as there are some easy ways to keep a bottle of wine fresher for longer. You’ll never have to throw away a bottle of expensive wine again!

Re-Cork Wine

If you plan on having just a few glasses of wine, re-cork the wine as soon as you’re finished pouring your glasses. This will limit the oxygen that the wine is exposed to, keeping it fresher.

Store the Wine Upright

Storing wine upright reduces the surface area that gets exposed to oxygen and slows down the oxidation process. Avoid storing your wine sideways.

Store Wine in Half-Sized Bottles

When you can’t finish half of a bottle of wine, store it in half-sized bottles to reduce the exposure to oxygen.

Store Wine in the Fridge

Store open bottles of wine in cold and dark places like the fridge. This helps slow down the oxidation because the molecules are moving very slowly.

Wine Preserver

If you drink a lot of wine, invest in a vacuum pump or inert gas preservation system. Vacuum pumps work by removing excess gas from the bottle after it’s opened and inert has perseveration systems serve wine without opening the bottle by injecting gas and putting a cap of wine-friendly gas on top of your remaining wine.
