Most of us are used to staying at home now, and cooking or baking up a storm. But sometimes it’s nice to relax in front of the television with a nice home-cooked meal and watch some food-related shows. There is a lot to choose from, but arguably the one that every baker has to watch is The Great British Bake Off.

What To Know

For those who are just tuning into this comedic British baking show, it is about a group of amateur bakers who compete each week for the title of Britain’s Best Amateur Baker. This might sound like an easy feat, but it most definitely is not.

The contestants are tasked with three different challenges depending on the week. The first test is called the Signature Challenge, in which contestants bake one of their signature creations. The second test is the Technical Challenge, where contestants are provided with a recipe, and then have to prepare it according to a technical understanding of certain baking practices.

The final type of test is the Showstopper Challenge. As you might imagine, this is the hardest of the challenges and contestants must create a special baked good that not only looks beautiful but blends a variety of unique flavors together.

Much hilarity ensues, as the judges offer their praise and their critiques of the many baked creations they get to taste. If you like cooking as form of television entertainment, this is the show for you!
