When it comes to something like cooking, it helps to have some things memorized like how many teaspoons are in a tablespoon, for example. In the same vein, it’ll also be a huge help to know these three food ratios. They take the guesswork out of cooking.

Vinaigrette

Not enough people make their own salad dressing. That may be because they don’t know just how easy it can be to whip up a truly delicious vinaigrette. All you need is three parts oil to one part vinegar. No matter what oil or vinegar you use, it’ll turn out great every time.

Simple Syrup

This liquid sweetener that can be used in things like lemonade, cocktails, and baking, is incredibly easy to make on your own. You just need to combine two (or three if you have a sweet tooth) parts of sugar with one part of water. Boil, cool, and voila!

Pancakes

Why use pancake mix when you can whip up your own pancake batter in a jiffy as long as you’ve got this ratio? It’s just two parts flour, two parts liquid, one egg, and half part fat. For the fat, you can use butter or oil interchangeably, and you can always add some vanilla, sugar, and/or baking powder to take it to the next level.
