Go Vegetarian With Cauliflower Steaks

Whether you’re vegetarian or simply on the hunt for healthier snacks, you’ll be surprised to learn that you can enjoy a scrumptious and filling steak made entirely of cauliflower. Here’s your guide to cooking cauliflower steaks that are sure to give you all the juicy flavor your desire.


  • 1 large head Cauliflower
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small shallot
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lime juice and zest
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes


  1. Heat your grill to medium and while you wait, cut the cauliflower into steaks. Baste olive oil over all sides of the cauliflower steaks and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Grill each “steak” for 8 minutes per side until charred.
  3. In a small bowl, add cilantro, garlic, sugar, lime juice and zest, red pepper flakes, shallot, and fish sauce.
  4. Place the grilled cauliflower on a platter and drizzle in the sauce before serving.
