Pork Nuggets are a Great Appetizer

The holiday season is the perfect time to gather your closest friends and family and to entertain them. Food is an important resource for every gathering and it’s key to start off with appetizers. Chicken nuggets, chips and dip, cheese plates – what do these things have in common? They’re all over done! Instead, try making something different – why not pork nuggets?

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork loin, cut into chunks
  • 1 minced shallot
  • 1 1/2 cups whole-grain mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup minced pickled jalapenos
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • salt
  • canola oil
  • freshly cracked black paprika

Instructions:

  1. Set the stove to 375 F degrees and prepare a big pot.
  2. Fill the pot halfway with canola oil.
  3. Combine the shallots, white wine vinegar, jalapenos, chives, mustard, and garlic together. Mix the ingredients well, then add pepper and salt.
  4. Add pepper and salt to the pork as well in a separate bowl. Combine it with the shallot mixture.
  5. In a third bowl mix the egg and buttermilk together.
  6. Use the fourth bowl to mix the cayenne, flour, salt, and pepper.
  7. First, dip the pork into the buttermilk mix, then in the bowl with flour. Make sure that all the chunks are covered with the flour mixture.
  8. Start frying the pork nuggets in the pot for 3 to 4 minutes.
  9. Place them on a paper towel and serve them right away.
