If there’s ever been a time where you’re not sure if you’re hungry or just board ; but still need something to munch on without the calories, then look no further. We’ve compiled a short list of munchy snacks with little to no calories so it won’t matter if you’re actually hungry.

Sugar Snap Peas

Much on this crisp green snack for comfort. They’re tasty, and only about 30 calories a cup. Don’t get too full before dinner though!

Carrots

Carrots are an excellent crunchy snack, also about 35 calories a cup. They’re nutrition dense, great for eye sight , and vitamin C, so it really can’t hurt at all to munch on them mindlessly. Carrots are also great dipped in hummus, making them an easy and delicious way to consume extra protein in your diet.

Pickles

Pickles have a low calorie intake and they’re so tasty, and come in different varieties from spicy, dill, to half sours. Keep these snacks at minimum thought if you’re concerned about calories, because sodium will make you retain water. For less salty pickles, try New Pickles, they taste closer to a cucumber than a pickle, but are still delectable.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers will give you the necessary crunch you may desire without the saltiness of a pickle. Dip them in hummus or eat them on their own for a deliciously crisp and low calorie snack!

Cucumbers are one of the most refreshing and versatile summer veggies, and their only downside is that they tend to go bad pretty fast. Luckily, there are some tips and tricks you can use to extend the shelf life of cucumbers, starting with these three.

Proper Storage

The way you store your cucumbers makes all the difference when it comes to keeping them fresh. They’re sensitive to cold temperatures but don’t do so well in the summer heat, either, so it’s best to put them inside a crisper drawer, ideally away from other fruits and veggies.

Plastic or Paper Wrap

Moisture is the biggest enemy of your cucumbers, and they’re more likely to go bad when they’re exposed to it. That’s why it’s essential to keep them dry by wrapping them up with plastic wrap or a paper towel. This hack can stop the outside moisture from getting in and help you maintain their crispiness for a long time.

Baking Soda & Water Solution

Placing your cucumbers in a container filled with water and a pinch of baking soda can also slow down their spoilage. This method will help your unpeeled cucumbers retain their moisture while keeping them hydrated and crisp.

Whether you’re hosting a party or you just want to make some fun and healthy snacks, these vegan cucumber rolls are just what you want. Not only are you getting nutrients from the cucumber as the vehicle, but they look so pretty you’ll hardly be able to keep your hands off of them!

Ingredients:

  • 2 large cucumbers or 3 smaller ones
  • 3-4 tablespoons of your favorite spread like hummus, tahini, mashed avocado
  • 1/8 cup of sprouts, watercress, or arugula, optional

Instructions:

  1. First, wash but don’t peel the cucumbers! Keeping the skin on will help with the roll and it will make it look very professional.
  2. Cut off each of the ends on both of the cucumbers. Then, using either a wide peeler or a mandoline, make wide, but thin strips from the cucumbers.
  3. Lay the strips out flat and blot them with a paper towel to get rid of some of the excess water.
  4. Then, take a very small amount of whatever spread you want and put it down the strip.
  5. Put down any greens if you’re deciding to use them and then roll up the pieces into pinwheels!
  6. Secure with a toothpick to make serving and eating easier and you’re done.

With all the fancy, popular veggies and superfoods, plain old cucumbers tend to be forgotten. Here are the five reasons why you should fall in love with them and eat them whenever you get the chance.

For Radiant Skin

Packed with Vitamin A, fibers, and folic acid, cucumbers are crucial for having radiant skin without undereye bags. You’ll often find it in face masks and there’s a reason it’s there.

Great for Hair

Vitamins and minerals from cucumbers are very beneficial for having healthy, strong hair. Who doesn’t want that?

Repels Mosquitos

Use cucumber juice as a natural lotion for repelling mosquitos. No chemicals needed!

Instead of Coffee

Caffeine is not the only thing that can wake you up when you’re feeling low. Turns out, eating a cucumber can have a similar effect. Give it a try!
