Once it starts to turn warm outside we swap out or hot coffees for iced coffees. Gone are the days where you have to run to your local coffee shop to get a cold cup of Joe. Iced coffee is a summer staple and it’s so easy to make at home. And there are ways you can make it even tastier. Here are three ways to take your iced coffee to the next level.

Replace the Ice Cubes

Iced coffee and espresso-based drinks are usually poured over regular ice to make them cold. This results in a watered-down beverage on hot days. To keep a concentrated drink, make coffee ice cubes by pouring cold or room temperature freshly brewed coffee into an ice cube tray and freezing it. After it’s frozen, add some coffee cubes to your glass and fill it with iced coffee.

Make Your Own Creamer

Store-bought coffee creamers are loaded with sugar, artificial flavors, and preservatives. So instead of using them, make your own with just three ingredients.

Add Some Sweetness

When you order coffee at your local shop, they usually have simple syrup or flavored syrup. You can purchase premade caramel, vanilla, and hazelnut syrups or you can make your own. Just heat up 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and cook it until the sugar has dissolved and the liquid has thickened. You can steep whole vanilla beans or cinnamon in the warm syrup for more flavor.

With springtime here and summertime just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about cold coffee drinks! We love ordering an iced latte during the summer for a cool caffeine boost, and let’s be honest: the options out there for cold drinks for coffee lovers are practically endless.

It’s undeniable, though, that one of the worst parts of any coffee drink is when the ice cubes start to melt and your drink takes on a bland watery flavor. So, how can you fix that?

Have you ever thought about making your own coffee ice cubes? Here’s how!

Instructions:

  1. Make a strong batch of coffee, around 16 ounces in total. You can do this by making your coffee in a Moka pot or simply by adding more coffee than you normally would to a traditional drip coffee maker.
  2. Wait for the coffee to cool, and then transfer it to an ice cube tray that you would use for making normal cubes. Place it into the freezer, allow them to set, and then your coffee ice cubes are ready!
  3. You can use them to cool down your favorite coffee drink without losing any of the flavor of the beverage. Enjoy!

Mint Coffee

Although it seems like a strange combination, the refreshing flavor of mint goes really well with coffee. Muddle some at the bottom of the cup, pour over brewed coffee and fill with ice. This drink makes sure your thirst is quenched for good.

Lemonade Iced Coffee

This recipe is a twist on an Arnold Palmer but uses coffee instead of the tea. Add lemonade to coffee and ice and enjoy.
