Some of the best dishes in this world are the simplest, and this pesto pasta recipe is a perfect example. It’s got everything you want in an easy weekday dinner: it’s super fast to make, it requires few ingredients, it barely takes any effort, and it tastes dang good after a long day at work. Here’s how to make it happen.
Ingredients
- 1 package of pasta
- Olive oil
- Onion
- Garlic
- 1 jar of pesto
- Parmesan
- Salt
- Black pepper
Directions
- Boil water, heavily salted
- Heat up olive oil over medium heat
- While the water is boiling and olive oil is heating, chop up onion and garlic
- Saute onion and garlic until translucent
- Add pesto, combine with onion and garlic
- Stir in grated parmesan until it is melted into the sauce
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste
- When the pasta is cooked al dente, drain, saving a splash of pasta water
- Add pasta with a splash of pasta water to the sauce, stirring until well combined
- Serve hot or cold—either tastes good! Garnish with a sprinkle of parmesan on top
This pasta tastes great with a side of veggies and/or protein, like chicken and broccoli, though it’s just as satisfying on its own.
