These Foods Are Probably Causing Your Breakouts

Acne breakouts are the worst, aren’t they? If you get them often, perhaps you should look into your daily diet. Turns out there are two food groups that are likely to cause breakouts, and knowing what they are can help you prevent this from happening in the future.

Sugar and Simple Carbs

A diet rich in simple carbs and sugar is a diet that will raise your blood sugar levels after every meal. Basically, these foods have a high glycemic index, and they are responsible for messing up the hormones in your body, which can easily cause oily skin, clogged pores, and acne.

This isn’t just true for cakes, donuts, and other treats you typically associate with the words ‘sugar’ and ‘simple carbs.’ The same can happen from eating watermelon and other sugar-packed fruits, even though the sugar they contain is natural fructose.

Dairy

If you’ve been drinking milk recently, don’t be surprised if you start noticing acne on your face and body. Cow’s milk, especially skim milk, is full of sugar but also contains hormones from lactating cows which, as you can guess, play with the hormones in your own body. If you enjoy dairy products, stick with yogurt and cheese, as they don’t have the same effect.
