Salsa verde is the perfect addition to so many different meals. You can put it on top of enchiladas, serve with chips as a dip, cook tortillas in it to make chilaquiles, and much more. It also happens to be a vegan recipe which means you’re basically making a sauce that is a ground-up salad, but with flavors like you can’t believe. If your mouth isn’t watering yet, it’s about to be.

Ingredients

For salsa verde, you will need 1/4 pound of tomatillos, an onion, 4 garlic cloves, 2 or more jalapeno peppers or Serrano peppers depending on how spicy you like it, salt and lime juice to taste.

Instructions

  1. There are two ways to make this salsa verde. You can either make it all in one pot by boiling the ingredients together, or roast them in the oven to bring out a different flavor. Whatever method you choose, you will end up with some great salsa.
  2. Start by peeling and rinsing the tomatillos. If you’re roasting, put everything on a sheet tray and broil everything until it’s slightly black.
  3. To boil, put everything in a pot, cover with water and boil for 10 minutes.
  4. Take out the ingredients and put them in a blender and blend until smooth.
  5. Add in your salt and lime juice to taste and that’s all!
