3 Sandwich Fillings To Try This Week

Do you ever get bored of your usual cheese and onion sandwich filling? If you’re looking for culinary inspiration, look no further. Here are three exciting, interesting sandwich fillings that will have you feeling excited to eat lunch again.

Tuna, Quick Pickled Onions and Gherkin Mayo

Ingredients (to fill 1 sandwich):

  • Half a tin of tuna in brine
  • 1/4 of a red onion
  • 2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar
  • 3 gherkins
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard

Instructions:

  1. Finely slice the onion, then cover it with the vinegar and leave for half an hour.
  2. Drain off the vinegar.
  3. Finely slice the gherkins, mix these in with the mustard and mayonnaise.
  4. Add the tuna to the mayo, and then layer some of the pickled onions onto your slice of brad before topping with the tuna.

Blue Cheese, Fig and Honey

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of blue cheese
  • 2 fresh figs
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Instructions:

  1. Finely slice the figs.
  2. Layer the cheese and figs over the slice of bread and drizzle with the honey. Add some salad leaves if liked.

Sardine, Tomato and Garlic

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tin of sardines
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato puree
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

  1. Rub the sliced garlic clove over both slices of bread.
  2. Drizzle the olive oil over the bread and sprinkle over the salt.
  3. Spread the tomato puree over the bread, add some of the mashed sardine fillets.
