Bolinhos de Bacalhau

Everything tastes better fried, doesn’t it? Cod is prepared in this way in the dish “bolinhos de bacalhau”, which consists of a cod fritter that has been prepared along with eggs, parsley, and onions. This is a favorite both as a snack and as a pre-meal appetizer.

Bacalhau à Bras

Salted cod is the most common way that the fish is purchased in Portugal, and it is later re-hydrated before cooking. This is the base of bacalhau à bras, a dish in which shredded cod is bound with scrambled eggs and fried potatoes to make a filling and tasty meal.

Bacalhau à Minhota

The northern Portuguese region of Minho is the home of bacalhau à minhota. In cities here such as Braga and Viana do Castelo, cod is traditionally prepared by baking it and then topping it with fried red and green peppers.
