Healthier Swaps for High-Calories Fall Drinks

Once fall rolls around, it’s time to start drinking warm beverages. While a cup of black coffee or tea are healthy choices, classics like apple cider and pumpkin spice lattes are high in calories and sugar due to the flavored syrups and whipped cream. But if you still enjoy these seasonal drinks, there are healthier ways to do it. Here are some healthier ways to enjoy your favorite fall drinks.

Apple Cider

Who doesn’t love Caramel Apple Spices from Starbucks? Next time you want an apple cider, go for the real thing instead of the alternative which has lots of added sugar from the syrups and whipped cream.

Chai Tea Latte

Infused with warm fall spices like cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, when you order chai tea lattes, they usually consist of steam milk combined with a chai tea concentrate. Next time you want a chai tea latte, just ask the barista for a smaller size and to go light on the concentrate.

Hot Chocolate

Often loaded with sugar, fancy hot chocolate beverages have tons of syrups and whipped cream. Instead, make your hot chocolate at home with chocolate labeled 65% or higher.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

It’s not fall without PSLs, but beware that they have tons of sugar and calories. If you still want one, opt out of whipped cream and the sugar drizzle on top. You can also ask for fewer pumps of pumpkin spice syrup.
