Do you have a love for salty snacks but don’t want to indulge in unhealthy potato chips? One of the best alternatives you can choose is kale chips, which are crispy, salty, and delicious while being crazy good for you. The only downside is that pre-packaged kale chips can get pretty pricey. But the good news is that they’re surprisingly easy to make at home. Here’s how to do it right.

Step 1

You’ll want to wash and dry your kale thoroughly. This will allow it to crisp up properly in the oven, so don’t skip this step. Then tear it up into bite-sized pieces.

Step 2

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. Then season your kale however you like. You can go simple with just salt and pepper, but kale can also handle much more intense flavors, so don’t hesitate to try out things like soy sauce, chili powder, cayenne pepper—whatever you want to try.

Step 3

Massage your kale with your oil and seasonings of choice and then spread it out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure it’s all in a single layer and not overcrowded.

Step 4

Bake the kale for 20 minutes, checking to make sure that it doesn’t burn. Remove when it’s crispy and enjoy immediately! (Kale chips lose their crisp over time.)
