Make The Best Kung Pao Chicken With This Recipe

Kung pao chicken is a traditional Chinese recipe that you can prepare in 25 minutes.

Ingredients

For the chicken and sauce:

  • 1 lb chicken thigh, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1.5 tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornflour/cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine
  • 2 tablespoons Chicken black vinegar

For the stir fry:

  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 3 green onions, cut into pieces, separate green from white parts
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 3/4 cup whole peanuts, roasted, unsalted
  • 6-10 dried chilies, cut into pieces with removed seeds
  • 1.5 teaspoon ground sichuan peppercorns
  • 2 minced garlic cloves

Instructions

Combine the soy sauce and cornflour together and mix until you can’t see the cornflour anymore. Add the Chinese black vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, Chinese cooking wine to the mix.

Combine 1.5 tablespoon of the sauce with the chicken and let it stay for 10 to 20 minutes.

Pour the water in the rest of the sauce.

Get a wok pan and heat the oil. Add the ginger, chilies, and garlic, then cook for half a minute.

Next, include the chicken, and when it becomes white add the white onions, cook for 2 minutes.

When the chicken is done, pour in the Sichuan pepper and sauce.

Wait for the kung pao chicken to start simmering and mix it until the sauce becomes thick. Include the green onions, peanuts and you can serve it right away.
