Is Frozen Food Unhealthy?

Being an adult often requires a tricky balancing act between wanting to do what’s best for you and not having enough free time. The result? A lot of trying to figure out how to make healthy food as fast as possible. You may have been tempted to eat frozen food, which can save you so much time and work, but stopped yourself because you’ve heard frozen food isn’t good for you. But is that true?

Well, not really. In fact, there are a lot of reasons why frozen food can sometimes be the healthiest choice. First of all, frozen food, most of the time, has not been proven to have any less nutrients than its fresh counterparts. But it goes deeper than that, too.

They Can Actually Be Helpful

The fact of the matter is, sometimes you really only have ten minutes to eat a meal. At that point, your only options may come down to a frozen entree or a bowl of cereal. In that case, the frozen entree will nearly always be the healthiest choice.

It’ll also often come in sizes that are already healthy portions, stopping you from scarfing down a whole box of pasta just because you didn’t know when to stop.

At the end of the day, like with any other type of food, the important thing is the type of frozen food you go for. A frozen pizza may not be the healthiest choice, but a frozen quinoa and veggie bowl will still give you plenty of nutrition. So don’t feel bad next time you’re walking down the frozen food aisle.
