Powdered sugar is a common ingredient used in the making of desserts and pastries. It has a light, airy texture and presents a beautiful appearance when sprinkled on top of things, such as cupcakes and fudge.

In addition, when used in certain dessert elements such as frostings and icings, it provides a smoother, lighter texture for the end result than normal granulated sugar would.
