McDonald’s isn’t just an iconic fast-food chain because of its burgers, chicken nuggets, and fries. It’s awesome that dipping sauces are what also helped it become a food institution.

McDonald’s has had all kinds of dipping sauces throughout its history, but there is one that always stood out: Sweet ‘N Sour Sauce. This sauce pairs perfectly not just with chicken nuggets but with all sorts of other finger foods as well. And best of all, you don’t even have to go to McDonald’s to buy it. Instead, you can make your own. Here is how.

  • ¼ cup peach jam/preserve
  • 2 tablespoons high fructose corn syrup
  • 5 teaspoons distilled vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender and mix until combined.
  2. Pour the mixture into a small saucepan and add two tablespoons of water.
  3. Stir well and place on medium heat.
  4. Bring the sauce to a boil and simmer for about five minutes.
  5. Take it off the stove and let it cool off.
  6. Start dipping your favorite finger food and store the rest in the fridge for later use.
