Most of us don’t think much about storing chocolate that much. After all, we intend to eat it as soon as possible. But let’s say you got a great deal on loads of Snickers bars or confectionery products, and you need to store them so they don’t go bad or change their taste. Here is how to do it.
Keep it Somewhere Cool and Dry
Chocolate doesn’t like high temperatures or moisture because these elements affect the consistency and stability of cocoa butter and cocoa solids. So find a cool and dry place to store it.
Keep Away From Light
Light, both sunlight and artificial light, can change the flavor of the chocolate. So make sure to find it a dark spot.
Seal it in an Air-Tight Container
Chocolate has a habit of picking up the closest odor to it, which can really be a bad thing if you’ve put it near garlic. To avoid this scenario, make sure to keep it in an air-tight container.
Avoid Refrigerator
It might make sense to place the chocolate into a refrigerator so it remains “fresh”. However, stored this way, chocolate can pick up the odors of whatever is closest to it in the fridge. Also, the low temperatures and moisture can cause discoloring of the chocolate.
