Make Your Own Nutritious, Delicious Oat Milk at Home

Making dairy-free milk may seem like an arduous task. But there are recipes out there to make it with no mess, no fuss, and no ridiculous price tag. Here is an idea for making home-made oat milk that will have your family begging for more.

Ingredients:

  • A cup of oats
  • 6 cups of water
  • A strainer with fine mesh
  • A blender

Method:

  1. Soak the oats in 3 cups of water. Do so for about 20 minutes. This step is not compulsory, but it does make the end result better.
  2. Drain and rinse the oats. Put the oats in the blender with the remaining 3 cups of water.
  3. Blitz the mixture with the blender for 20 seconds.
  4. Strain the mixture with your strainer (or use some cheesecloth). Expect to drain the mixture more than once.
  5. Keep the oat milk in your fridge in an airtight container. It lasts for up to 5 days.

If you want to sweeten your oat milk, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or some dates when soaking your oats.
