Kale chips are a super easy snack that’s low on carbs and keto-friendly. Preparing kale chips in the air fryer takes less time than cooking them in the oven, and produces a similar result as deep frying, only using a fraction of the oil. Here’s how to make crisp and light kale chips using an air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups (1 inch) chopped kale, stems removed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix kale and olive oil together, until the kale is thoroughly coated.
  2. Add garlic powder, salt, onion powder, and pepper to the kale and toss until leaves are evenly coated.
  3. Transfer a single layer kale leaves to the air fryer basket. Make sure they are evenly distributed.
  4. Cook at 360°F (182°C) for 6 minutes.
  5. Shake the air fryer basket to move the leaves around, ensuring leaves are evenly distributed and cook for 2 minutes more.
  6. Transfer kale chips to a baking sheet to cool without touching each other (otherwise they might steam and lose their crispiness).
  7. Repeat steps 3 to 7 with the additional kale you have left.

You can serve the chips with grated parmesan cheese for flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
