There’s nothing tastier than sinking our teeth into a juicy hamburger, and such is especially the case when talking about a smashed burger. Luckily, you can actually cook this delicacy on your own! Grab your equipment and pay close attention, because we have the knowledge of how to make it.
Ingredients
- 1 buttered and roasted soft hamburger roll
- Toppings as desired such as mayonnaise, mustard, and shredded lettuce
- 4 ounces of freshly ground beef chuck (divided into two-ounce balls)
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 slice of good melting cheese such as American or cheddar
Instructions
- Lay the toppings on the bottom half of the bun
- Preheat sizable stainless steel sauté pan on high heat for two minutes. Then place the beef balls in the pan and smash them down with a stiff metal spatula or any substitute you may prefer.
- Generously season using salt and pepper and allow it to cook until the patties are well browned, and the toppings start to turn pale pink or gray.
- Using the backside of your spatula, carefully scrape patties from the pan, making sure to get all the browned bits.
- Flip the patties, place a slice of cheese on one patty, and stack the second slice directly on top. Immediately remove from pan and put it in a waiting burger bun.
Remember that these burgers cook very fast. It would be best if you make them one at a time, and if you want to make multiple burgers, keep them warm under a foil while preparing the subsequent burgers.
