We kind of know that we should eat fruits and vegetables when they are in season, but if you don’t know why you should do this, it might be difficult to actually put in the effort and pick the right things. Here are four simple reasons to go seasonal.

More Nutrients

Seasonally fresh produce is picked when its 9 ripe and fully developed, which means its way fresher and has more nutrients compared to the produce that had to travel across the world to get to you.

Supporting the Locals

Why not use this as an opportunity to be more connected to that whole process. Get to know your local farmers and really learn where your food is coming from. Might sound silly but knowing who is growing your food makes it that much more delicious.

Saving Money

Yep we’re talking about simple supply and demand. When produce is in season, and there’s plenty of it the prices go down. Seasonal food is much cheaper to produce for the farmer and therefore is much cheaper for the consumer to buy. So go seasonal and cash in on the bounty!

Ecology

When you buy locally, you save the world from the gas needed to transport food over big distances, and also the chemicals needed to store food for a longer period of time.
