Instead of 20-50 minutes for regular white and brown rice, basmati rice takes only 12 minutes to cook, so you can be in and out of the kitchen in a snap! Whether you’re using it for a Middle Eastern or Indian dish or something completely your own, basmati rice is definitely the way to go.

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a boil with the cardamom pods, a cinnamon stick, smashed garlic cloves, and dry of fresh curry leaves.
  2. If you can’t find the curry leaves in the grocery store, you can get them online or omit them entirely!
  3. Then, once the water is boiled, put in the salt and rice.
  4. Cook the rice for 12 minutes, and after it’s cooked, drain out the excess water and rinse in hot water.
  5. Remove the aromatics, and use it in all your favorite dishes and curries!
