You probably know someone who eats a weird food combination, like pizza and honey, or watermelon and salt. Have you ever met someone who puts peanut butter in hot dogs? This, apparently, is a thing and it may not be the worst idea we’ve heard.

Why Do People Like It?

Peanut butter is a versatile spread, especially the unsalted version. You know it from the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich from when you were little, but you’ve probably used it in many different ways since then. But on a hot dog? Could that really work? Yes, it can.

When spread on a warm hot dog bun, peanut butter will melt nicely and provide a delicious nutty flavor. It’s actually a great replacement for mustard, and it will add some protein to your lunch or dinner.

Some restaurants use peanut butter as a burger topping and we don’t see why you shouldn’t try it with a hot dog. Not everyone will love it, but it’s nice to have options, especially when it’s the middle of the night and you realize there are no hot dog condiments in the fridge. You may be surprised how delicious it is and spread the word with your friends and family.
