  5. Spread the potato chips in a single layer on the lined baking sheet, making sure they are not overcrowded. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Bake the potato chips in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking, until they are golden brown and crispy. Once the steaks have rested, slice them against the grain into thick slices. Craving a delicious, crispy snack that’s easy to make at home? These homemade onion rings are the perfect treat. Golden, crunchy, and full of flavor, they’re a crowd-pleaser that pairs perfectly with burgers, sandwiches, or as a stand-alone snack. Whether you’re hosting a gathering or just indulging in a tasty treat, these onion rings are sure to satisfy.

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions (yellow or white)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside. If you want extra-crispy rings, soak the onion slices in ice water for 15-20 minutes, then pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels before proceeding.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, paprika (if using), and black pepper. In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk and egg, whisking until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until you have a smooth, thick batter. Place the breadcrumbs in a separate shallow dish.
  3. Heat about 1-2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it in the breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs lightly to ensure they stick well.
  4. Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry each ring for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they’re golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the onion rings and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  5. Serve the onion rings hot, with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, ranch, or a spicy aioli. Enjoy them as a delicious side dish or snack!

Ingredients:

  • 8 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of diced bell peppers (assorted colors)
  • 1 cup of diced onions
  • 1 cup of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives), for garnish

  4. Once the edges are set, transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the frittata is puffed and golden brown.
  5. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven using oven mitts. Garnish the frittata with fresh herbs and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Creating the perfect salad dressing can be likened to an art form. It’s all about balancing flavors that complement a wide array of ingredients. If you’re on the hunt for a versatile and delicious salad dressing that can elevate almost any combination of greens and toppings, this easy-to-make dressing might just be your answer.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of your preferred oil
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • Juice of a small orange
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl or a mason jar, whisk together the oil, honey, apple cider vinegar, and fresh orange juice. The oil provides a smooth base for the dressing, while the honey balances the vinegar’s acidity with its sweetness.
  2. Stir in the Dijon mustard until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. If you’re using a jar, secure the lid and shake vigorously. Alternatively, whisking in a bowl works just as well to achieve the same result.
  4. Drizzle over your favorite salad just before serving.
  5. This dressing is incredibly versatile, making it the perfect fit for everything from a simple green salad to more complex compositions with fruits, nuts, and cheeses.

If you’re looking for a chill yet sophisticated way to host without spending all day in the kitchen, a wine and cheese night is where it’s at. It’s the perfect mix of easygoing vibes and classy appeal, making you look like the ultimate host with minimal effort. Here’s why this is your next go-to gathering idea.

No Cooking Required

Let’s be honest—who has the time or energy to whip up a three-course meal? With a wine and cheese night, you can ditch the cooking altogether. Just lay out a variety of cheeses, crack open a few bottles of wine, and you’re set. It’s effortless hosting that still feels gourmet.

Cost-Effective(ish)

Hosting doesn’t have to be super expensive. A wine and cheese spread can be way more affordable than prepping a full-on dinner. You can find great cheeses on a budget, and a couple of bottles of wine can easily cover the whole evening.

Something for Everyone

Got friends with dietary restrictions? No problem. A wine and cheese night is super versatile. Whether your crew is vegan, gluten-free, or just picky, you can cater to everyone with vegan cheeses, gluten-free crackers, and a mix of fruits and nuts.

It’s Classy

Finally, nothing says “I’ve got it together” like a well-curated wine and cheese board. It’s the kind of hosting that’s effortlessly elegant and will have your guests feeling like they’re in a French soirée. Just be ready for everyone to pull out their phones to snap Insta pics, though.

When the weather is really hot and sunny, lunch often becomes a lighter, brighter affair. Rather than hot meals or filling subs, many of us seek out fresh salads, soups and fruit to stay hydrated and cool during the long, hot afternoons. Check out these suggestions for super quick, fresh lunches which you can eat at home or on the go. All of them are easily adapted to suit your tastes and the ingredients you have to hand.

Caprese Salad

Why not try a twist on an old classic? Rather than combining the winning combo of tomatoes, basil and mozzarella, try subbing out the tomatoes for a different fruit such as peaches, plums or fresh apricots. You can also switch the cheese for a goat’s cheese or a brie, and try a sprinkling of mint rather than basil to keep everything super fresh.

Poached Eggs

Poached eggs are so quick and easy, but they always feel like a treat. Layer yours on top of some smoked salmon and avocado for a classic combination, or try some smashed peas. Simply mash some cooked peas with a little oil, salt and pepper and spread this over your toast before topping with the egg.

Gazpacho

The ultimate warm weather soup, gazpacho is a super healthy mix of tomatoes, cucumber, peppers and garlic. It’s available to buy in store, or there are many recipes available online for this super simple soup. Try with some toasted croutons on top, or serve alongside a green salad for the ultimate healthy lunch.

The beloved BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) sandwich is a classic favorite. It’s simple and has a satisfying flavor. But even classics can benefit from a little innovation. Here are three delicious twists to elevate your next BLT, making it even more irresistible.

Avocado and Sriracha Mayo

Add a creamy texture and a spicy kick to your BLT by incorporating avocado and a sriracha mayo spread. Slice a ripe avocado and layer it on top of the bacon. For the sriracha mayo, mix mayonnaise with sriracha sauce to taste. The combination of cool avocado and spicy mayo adds depth and a creamy spice that complements the crispy bacon and fresh veggies perfectly.

Gourmet Breads and Heirloom Tomatoes

Swap out ordinary white toast for something more artisanal, like a thick slice of sourdough, ciabatta, or rustic whole-grain bread. Pair your choice of bread with heirloom tomatoes, which are known for their robust flavors and varied colors.

Add a Fried Egg and Arugula

Elevate your BLT by adding a fried egg and replacing iceberg lettuce with arugula. The egg’s runny yolk creates a rich, creamy dressing that binds all the sandwich elements together, while arugula adds a peppery note that contrasts beautifully with the salty bacon and sweet tomato.

This classic frittata will make for a delicious and satisfying breakfast. Customize it with your favorite vegetables, cheeses, or meats, and enjoy a versatile dish that’s perfect for any morning. This recipe is not only easy to follow but also a crowd-pleaser that will elevate your breakfast experience.

Ingredients:

  • 8 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of diced bell peppers (assorted colors)
  • 1 cup of diced onions
  • 1 cup of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup of diced ham or cooked bacon (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives), for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and milk until well combined. Season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and bell peppers to the skillet, sautéing until they become soft and translucent. Pour the whisked eggs over the sautéed vegetables in the skillet, distributing them evenly.
  3. Sprinkle diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and diced ham or cooked bacon (if using) over the eggs. Allow the edges of the frittata to set in the skillet, lifting them with a spatula to let the uncooked eggs flow underneath.
