When we think about using oils to fry foods, the connotation that comes to mind for most cooks is unhealthiness. While oils undoubtedly contain plenty of fat and should be used in moderation, not all fats are created equal and there are some frying oil options that actually can turn out to be healthy.

Instead of opting for oils with high levels of saturated fat, opt for these heart-healthy oils as you prepare your next meals.

Olive Oil

Olive oil has a well-deserved reputation as being a “healthy” oil, and it is one that is well-deserved. This Mediterranean diet staple is rich in monounsaturated fats and is good for frying in some situations, especially in a pan with meats like chicken and with vegetables.

Canola Oil

Deep-frying often carries an even stronger connotation for unhealthiness, but when done with canola oil, this is not necessarily the case! Unlike peanut or other vegetable oils, canola oil is very low in unsaturated fat and is neutral enough to use in a wide variety of foods.

Sunflower Oil

Not as famous as canola or olive oil, sunflower oil has recently grown in popularity as people begin to become aware of its utility and healthiness in the kitchen. With a high smoke point, this oil is a great option for both deep-frying and pan-frying.
