Are you trying to think of ways to beat the chilly winter blues? Few things beat cozying up to a bowl of hearty and scrumptious soup, especially this Japanese classic. Here’s your guide to whipping up a nourishing bowl of Miso soup in less than an hour.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup white miso
- 3 tablespoons sliced scallions
- 2 tablespoons dried wakame
- 1 large piece kombu
- 1 1/2 cups bonito flakes
- 4 ounces of silken tofu
Instructions
- Place a large pot on the stove over a medium heat. Pour six cups of water and the kumbo into the pot, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Once the water simmers, remove the kumbo. Keep heating the stock until it boils and add bonito flakes, before lowering the flame to a medium-low heat. Cook until the stock is infused.
- Return the kombu to the pot and add the miso, stirring over a medium heat. Once the miso is dissolved, toss in scallions and wakame.
- Ready bowls for yourself and whoever else is joining you. Place tofu in each bowl before pouring the soup.
