Korean cuisine is all about bold flavors. One of the most beloved dishes is Korean-style fried tofu. This tofu is the perfect blend of crispy texture and savory taste both vegetarians and meat lovers will enjoy.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes or slices. Roll the tofu pieces in cornstarch until they are fully coated. This will give the tofu its crispy texture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry the tofu until golden brown and crispy, then place it on paper towels to drain.
- Combine soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a bowl. This mixture will be used to glaze the tofu, adding a rich, umami flavor.
- Toss the fried tofu in the sauce over low heat until evenly coated. Cook for 1-2 minutes more. Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds and enjoy the perfect spicy and crispy dish.
