Pesto is one of our go-to sauces in the kitchen. It’s flavorful, easy to make, and versatile, given that it’s a great option for both pizza and pasta. If you want to learn how to make a simple, classic recipe for this sauce at home, this easy-to-follow recipe is for you!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces fresh basil leaves
  • ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup pine nuts
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Start off by taking your pine nuts and putting them in a pan on your stove in a bit of olive oil on medium heat. Toast for about three to five minutes or until lightly browned, and then remove it.

Next, use a knife to chop up the basil leaves into small to medium-sized pieces. Add to a food processor. Next, go ahead and add the result of the ingredients, including the toasted pine nuts to the food processor.

Be sure to secure the lid tightly and blend on medium-heat intensity for about 30 seconds to one minute. You want the pesto to have a slightly chunky texture and not be completely smooth.

Remove, refrigerate, and enjoy within 2 to 3 days!
