If you love the taste of a freshly, grilled salmon, then you’re in luck—a cedar plank will transform the way you cook salmon as well as the taste you achieve. Here is your guide to grilling cedar plank salmon.

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 2 cedar planks
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • lime wedges

  1. Place the cedar planks atop a baking sheet and fill the baking sheet with water. Let it soak for 2 hours.
  2. In a small bowl, pour the sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1/4 tablespoon black pepper.
  3. Coat each salmon fillet with the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high. Put two fillets on each plank and place on the hot grill. Cook the salmon for 16 to 20 minutes, until cooked through.
  5. Garnish with lime wedges and serve on the plank.
