Popcorn is one of the better snacks to munch on. It is super low in calories and doesn’t really have anything bad to contribute to your body in terms of nutrition. However, when you make microwave popcorn, there are a plethora of chemicals that you are ingesting on top of the popcorn, so if you still want to enjoy your favorite snack but without all the bad stuff, try making it on the stove with this recipe.

Ingredients

You only need two basic ingredients for stovetop popcorn; popcorn kernels and a neutral oil. Once the popcorn is made, you can add anything on top, both sweet and savory! You can add salt or butter, or go ahead and cover it in nutritional yeast or even caramel.

Instructions

  1. Head a small amount of oil in a pot
  2. Wait a few minutes and then test the oil by putting a kernel in there
  3. When the kernel pops, your oil is ready to go
  4. Pour the kernels into the pot and shake them around a bit so they get covered in the oil
  5. Put the lid on, shake every once in a while so nothing burns, and when the popping stops, it’s ready to eat!
