Heart of Palm is a vegetable harvested from the inner core of certain species of palm trees. Often compared to Artichoke, due to its light, mild and crunchy consistency or to white Asparagus, the heart of palm is a healthy and low-in-calories vegetable.

Heart of palm is often used as a substitute for meat in a vegan or vegetarian diet and can be easily added to any dish from your already-built diet. Cooking with a heart of palm is not complicated as you could easily bake it, cook, sauté or eat raw from the jar. They are mostly found in the canned vegetable section of the grocery store. Finding fresh heart of palms might be challenging, but can be sometimes found in markets in the areas where they are produced (mainly in Costa Rica).

Heart of palms come with a large number of benefits. With their wealth of nutrients, hearts of palm may help promote digestive health, boost the immune system, enhance weight loss, prevent anemia, stabilize blood sugar and keep bones strong.

They contain a good amount of fiber, protein, manganese and vitamin C. All what your body needs.

Do not hesitate to add it to your salad, your sandwich or even to the salsa of your tacos.
