Instagram Baker’s Cookies Don’t Need a Filter to Look Perfect

If you’ve ever tried baking cookies, you know that it’s a relaxing activity that ends with a batch of delicious treats. But when you bake at home, you don’t really need to pay attention to decorating your cookies. On the other hand, when you make cookies that will go on Instagram, you want to do everything you can to make them look perfect. Baker Stephanie Giordano from Baked by Steph knows how to do this and she shared some of her top tips with Hello Magazine.

She Sifts Icing Sugar

Sifting the icing mix before adding water is an important step if you want to avoid lumps. It’s the first thing you need to do if you want picture-perfect cookies.

Her Icing is Consistent

Outline icing and flood icing should be split into two consistencies. Giordano explains that “outline icing should be fairly thick, like toothpaste, and hold its shape when piped,” while “flood icing should be runnier than outline and shouldn’t hold its shape.”

She Avoids Air Bubbles

This talented baker recommends mixing the flood icing on a low setting and letting it sit for five minutes, then mixing again at a low speed. This is a neat trick that will help you get rid of the annoying air bubbles.
