Mashed potatoes are undoubtedly delicious; they are creamy, rich, but not so healthy. Luckily, there are so many other vegetables you can use to make a mashed potato imitation that tastes just as good or better! The best part is that you know you’ll be getting in more vitamins and minerals and ingesting much fewer calories and fat than you would with regular mashed potatoes.

Celery Root

This recipe is super creamy and rich because of the addition of sage and is especially good for people who like a little texture in their mash. For this recipe, peel and dice some celery root and boil in hot water until fork tender. In the meantime, infuse some oil with sage leaves. Put the celery root in a food processor with skim milk, salt, and pepper. Add in the infused oil, pulse to combine, and enjoy!

Cauliflower

This mash really tastes like the real deal. Chop up a head of cauliflower and put it in water until soft. Add the florets to a food processor with parmesan cheese, milk, garlic, chives, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix in the food processor until the mash is smooth, serve with more chives on top and enjoy!
