No kitchen is complete without a good blender. This kitchen appliance is incredibly versatile and it can last you for a long time if you take proper care of it. Your blender will be in a good shape as long as its blades are, so make sure you’re avoiding these common mistakes that could ruin them.

Skip Hard Foods

If you have a standard blender, using it to blend hard foods, such as ice, ginger root, or potatoes is a huge no-no. These blenders were designed with soft foods and liquids in mind, and they’ll go bad pretty quickly if you use them to blend hard foods on a regular basis.

Right Order

Adding ingredients to your blender should be done in the correct order if you want to prolong the life span of your blades. Staring with liquids is highly recommended because blades will move more freely, and you should add powders, solids, and frozen goods afterward.

Food Overload

When putting food inside your blender, make sure that you’re using the right amount. Filling it to the top will put unnecessary stress on your blades and wear down your motor, but running it empty also isn’t a good idea because they’ll wear out too quickly.
