When it comes to pies, everyone has their favorite—apple, pumpkin, blueberry, pecan, strawberry—we could go on and on. But we haven’t seen pies quite like Liz Joy’s which are almost too pretty to eat. The award-winning desert designer uses baked goods to tell a story and her pies include Disney characters, fairy tales, TV show characters, and seasonal themes.
“I love love love playing with different mediums and materials and liked the idea that pies, by nature, allow you to work with several different layers. Once I started brainstorming design concepts, I also realized they’re a unique medium for storytelling. I love the storytelling aspect and usually focus on creating a sense that the viewer is peeking into a unique edible world,” Joy told Bored Panda.
While her Disney pies are the most eye-catching, her favorites are the ones she creates for her dad based on his childhood stories.
And pies aren’t the only thing Joy loves to bake. Her Instagram is full of donuts, cakes, cupcakes, and cookies that feature animals, clothes, perfumes, cars, and shoes all of which look more like artwork than tasty treats. We’re getting hungry just looking at her page!
