Hemp seeds are incredibly good for the human body. Their taste is a bit nutty but not very strong which allows us to add them to most dishes without altering their taste. Here are some facts about them we wanted to share with you.

Origin

Hemps seeds are the seeds of the hemp plant, which is part of the Cannabis sativa family. Although they contain only a very marginal percentage of the psychoactive THC compound they are still illegal in some countries.

Notorious

The seeds contain over 30% fat, but don’t worry it’s a good thing. They are very rich with mostly Omega 3 and Omega 6 which are great for the human body. Historically, they were also a great source of vegetable-based protein as 25% of their total calorie is actually a protein.

Reducing Risk for Heart Disease

Researchers found that consuming hemp seeds can reduce the risk of heart disease. They are full of amino acid that produces nitric oxide, a gas molecule which relaxes the blood vassals and lowering the blood pressure.

Great for Your Skin

Many skin issues and diseases are caused by the lack of good fat in our bodies. Studies have shown that the fact that hemp seeds are packed with good oils can help you balance the level of Omega 3 and Omega 6 in your body which will positively affect your skin.

How to Store Them

The hemp seeds tend to oxidize quickly if they are not well stored. To extend their shelf life you should try to avoid light and heat. Storing them in your refrigerator should make a good solution.
