Not Drying the Potatoes

One of the first things you need to do before baking potatoes is to dry them and remove any excess moisture. This is probably the most important step to do if you want potatoes to be super crispy.

Using Foil

Wrapping potatoes in foil is a common mistake many that people make, but the truth is that we don’t need this step in order to make perfectly baked potatoes. Using foil will only trap moisture and leave the potatoes soggy.

Using the Wrong Potatoes

There are different types of potatoes on the market and technically you can use pretty much any of them for baking. However, russet potatoes are often considered best for preparing perfect baked potatoes, because they’re light, fluffy, and can hold plenty of toppings.

Using the Microwave

We’re all for using all sorts of kitchen tools for making shortcuts and saving time in the kitchen. However, we wouldn’t recommend using the microwave for baking potatoes if you really want them to be fluffy and delicious.
