When you think of fast food, you probably don’t think about healthy eating. Most of us associate chains like Taco Bell with unhealthy food, and that isn’t an unfair assessment due to the many menu items that simply just aren’t good for your health.

However, eating healthy isn’t impossible at this Tex-Mex chain if you know what to order. Here are some tips on options that aren’t so bad for you!

Power Bowls

Taco Bell has recently introduced “Power Bowls” to its menus, an option which combines the burrito ingredients that you’d like to eat in a bowl form, minus the tortilla. If you leave out the sour cream and go light on the cheese, what you’ll have here is a protein-packed and relatively low-fat mix of rice, beans, meat, and vegetables.

“Fresco” Tacos

Tacos ordered at Taco Bell are typically topped with sour cream and loads of cheese, two fatty ingredients which make them surprisingly unhealthy. Fortunately, Taco Bell offers up the option to order tacos “fresco,” which substitutes pico de gallo for these high-fat toppings and makes your taco healthier.

Bean Burritos

A bean burrito might not jump into your mind as the healthiest thing at Taco Bell, but it’s actually surprisingly nutritious. This vegetarian option contains only 200 calories and 6 grams of fat, packing in lots of iron, potassium, and protein.
