Every cook needs a quick recipe that they can whip up in no time and that tastes great. The beauty of this tomato and garlic sauce is that not only is it quick, but you can get really creative with it. The flavors pair well with a whole host of foods, it can serve as the base for many innovations, and you can make it your own. Here’s how to make it in a few simple steps.

Ingredients

To make the sauce, you’ll need an onion, four garlic cloves, three tablespoons of tomato puree, 15 ounces of chopped tomatoes, four ounces of white wine, half a cup of olive oil, a few drops of parsley (about four to five tablespoons), and salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare the Ingredients

Finely chop the onion, garlic, and parsley. Use a garlic crusher for the cloves if it’s easier.

Form the Sauce

Next, fry the onion and garlic in the olive oil over medium heat. Fry for about five minutes, stirring continually to stop them from burning. When they’re soft, add the chopped tomatoes, white wine, and tomato puree.

Leave to Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes.

Finish and Serve

At this point, you can add other flavors along with the parsley. This is where you can get creative. Good pairings can be shrimp, squid, or clams. Once it’s simmered, it’s ready to eat. Add to pasta and enjoy!
