Food waste is one of the biggest problems we all face in our daily lives, but you can always make an attempt to cut down on it. It all starts with your grocery run, and taking these three steps can help you significantly reduce the food waste in your household.

Empty Fridge?

It’s highly unlikely your fridge is totally empty and you should always check it before going grocery shopping. By doing so, you’ll avoid the common mistake of buying things you already have at home, especially fresh produce, such as fruits and veggies, that quickly go bad.

Grocery Day

Setting aside a day or two a week to do the grocery run can help you cut down on food waste. By doing so, you’ll give the produce you bought enough time to stay fresh in between, but it’s important to not go overboard, especially if you have time to do smaller grocery runs and have a good grocery store nearby.

Shopping List

If you’re prone to impulse shopping that eventually leads to food waste, always go grocery shopping with a list of things you need and try to stick to it. You can make exceptions if you notice some things you don’t have at home, but only if you can use them before they’re spoiled.
