Salt is one of the most useful ingredients you can use while cooking, even though we know that eating too much of it is not good for our health. Consuming too much salt can make you feel bad and bloated and can lead to high blood pressure, so here are a few healthy ingredients you can use to cut back on salt.

Garlic

Adding more garlic to meals such as chicken, vegetables, or fish is a great way to cut back on salt. Garlic is extremely versatile and super healthy because it’s packed with manganese, vitamin C, and other important nutrients.

Lemon Juice

Much like garlic, lemon juice can also be used for preparing different meals and is a great alternative to salt. Season your favorite dishes like chicken, fish, or salads with lemon juice and you can reduce your salt intake by up to 75 percent.

Vinegar

Seasoning your sauces, soups, stews, and other dishes with vinegar is an awesome way to cut back on salt. There are different types of vinegar such as apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, rice vinegar, and more, and each one of them is an awesome salt substitute.

Thyme

Using herbs is also a great way to cut back on salt, and thyme is probably one of the best that you can use for preparing various Mediterranean dishes.
