Unsure about how to properly store a bottle of ketchup? Well, you are apparently not alone. There are so many people that are unsure about the proper method of storing ketchup that famous condiment maker Heinz felt the need to settle this once and for all.
Heinz UK recently went on Twitter to send out a short tweet that sparked quite a debate. The company decided to make its opinion known on the proper way of storing ketchup.
“FYI: Ketchup. goes. in. the. fridge!!!” the company’s social media team wrote.
Some Twitter users applauded Heinz UK for making it clear how to properly store ketchup, while others continued to argue that keeping it outside the fridge is the way to go.
Heinz UK then sent out a follow-up tweet in which they asked Twitter users do they keep their ketchup in the fridge or cupboard. More than 13K people voted, and 63.2% said they are using fridges.
Heinz U.S. previously shared that their ketchup is shelf stable due to its natural acidity. However, this still doesn’t mean you should forgo the fridge. By storing ketchup this way, it will keep its quality for a longer time and also maintain its flavor.
