How to Make a Traditional Caprese Salad

Hailing from the beautiful Italian island of Capri, the Caprese salad is a simple yet refreshing appetizer that will be sure to get you into a good mood before the main course. Here’s your guide to making a traditional Caprese salad that will get your next dinner party off to a great start.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh mozzarella
  • 1 bunch fresh basil
  • olive oil
  • sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 large ripe tomatoes

Instructions:

  1. Get out a large platter.
  2. Slice the mozzarella into thick slices and do the same with the tomatoes.
  3. Layer the mozzarella and tomato slices alternately on the platter.
  4. Sprinkle basil leaves and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Drizzle olive oil over the salad and enjoy.
