{New} Today is my daughter's 7th birthday, which has me flooded with memories and emotions but mostly feeling so excited for her and so proud of the amazing kid she has become. ❤️⠀ ⠀ She's our oldest, so she's the one who made me a mom and who's forced me to stretch and grow and learn so much along this journey.⠀ ⠀ She has suffered most from our parenting ignorance and at times ineptitude, but I think that's just how it is for the oldest. And she's taken it in stride.⠀ ⠀ Madison is endlessly creative and curious, independent, smart, funny, fiercely loyal, kind, generous and so beautiful despite being completely unconcerned with being neat or tidy or caring a thing about her appearance (which frustrates me but I also really admire). ⠀ ⠀ She's my heart.⠀ ⠀ I hope this birthday, and our weekend-long celebrations, are everything her sweet little heart desires. 💕⠀ ⠀ Anyway, if you're curious about these gorgeous kabobs, they are new on the blog today!⠀ ⠀ They are my Teriyaki Chicken Pineapple Kabobs, which are a really fun + flavorful recipe with tender chicken, peppers, fresh sweet pineapple and an easy teriyaki sauce that doubles as a marinade.⠀ ⠀ They are great for a BBQ party but also perfect for a family dinner – cause who doesn't love food on a stick?⠀ ⠀ Get the recipe from my link in profile and here:⠀ https://www.familyfoodonthetable.com/teriyaki-chicken-pineapple-kabobs/⠀ ⠀ XO,⠀ Kathryn⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #familyfoodonthetable ⠀ #chickendinner #winnerwinnerchickendinner #chickenkabobs #chickenkebab #teriyakichicken #kabobs #bbqtime #bbqparty #familydinnernight #dinnertimefun #dinnerinspiration #dinnerideas #familydinnertime #dinnerisserved #familyfood #dinnertonight #clteats #f52grams #buzzfeedfood #huffposttaste #tastespotting #cookinglight #yahoofood #feedfeed @thefeedfeed #foodwinewomen #TODAYfood #BHGfood #thekitchn #forkfeed

A great kebab has at least one protein and one vegetable cut into bite size so they cook at the same time. With some flavor profiles, you can also add more ingredients including fruit, and think outside the box with your proteins, especially if there are vegans or vegetarians to be served.

Marinating

Whatever your choice of protein is, unless you’re using sausage, marinate it beforehand so when it hits the grill you get an extra explosion of flavor. You can marinade your proteins in anything from hot sauce, a vinaigrette, and any types of spices.

Combinations

For a vegan combo, marinate cubes of tofu in soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, and sriracha. Finish the kebabs with bell peppers and mushrooms.

For a chicken combo, marinate cubes of chicken in olive oil, lemon juice, and either dry or fresh herbs like oregano, rosemary, and thyme. Add chunks of vegetables like tomatoes, zucchini squash, or red onion and grill to perfection.
