Cream cheese is a fantastic thing to have in your fridge. You can spread it on bagels and have a tasty breakfast, use it as a base for all sorts of dips, and add it to baking goods for a richer texture. But you don’t have to rush to the grocery store if you find out you have used up all your cream cheese supplies. Instead, just use one of these substitutes.

Cottage Cheese

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has spent some time on TikTok. Cottage cheese is a new star of cheese, and you’ll be happy to know that it can be used as a great substitute for cream cheese. Just remember to give it a few spins in a blender and splash it with some lemon juice to mimic the texture and taste of cream cheese better.

Mascarpone

Mascarpone might be an ideal substitute for cream cheese due to its creamy texture. You can use it in a 1:1 ratio in most recipes and get great results. To get as close as possible to cream cheese, you can also blend it with a splash of heavy cream and a bit of lemon juice.

Sour Cream

Sour cream won’t work the best if you are making baked goods due to its texture. However, you can use it efficiently instead of cream cheese while making spreads and dips. As a bonus, it comes with less calories.
