Between shopping, preparing ingredients and eventually cooking them, prep often feels like a long and grueling process. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be. Here are some helpful kitchen hacks to make cooking easier than ever before.

Slicing Steak Fries

If you love eating thick, fluffy fries, then this hack will save you plenty of time. Rather than slicing each potato with a knife, use an apple slicer to instantly create thick, steak fries.

Use Sheet Pans As Trays

While sheet pans are great for baking, they also make for sturdy trays when serving food to your guests. This will help you to save time on washing up regular trays afterward.

Stop Bowls From Slipping

A slippery bowl can make stirring and whisking more difficult. What’s more, it may fall off your kitchen counter. Avoid this issue by simply placing a damp towel under the bowl. This trick also works for cutting boards.

Sometimes, the best hacks are the ones that are the most obvious. That is certainly the case with a freezer hack that we recently discovered, thanks to food content creator Steph Gigliotti.

In one of the videos shared on her TikTok, Gigliotti demonstrated a hack that helps prevent freezer burns once you have opened a bag of frozen food. And no, it doesnā€™t include the use of Ziploc bags.

The TikToker starts with a half-used bag of frozen French fries. She makes two diagonal cuts in the middle, which leaves two flaps on the side. From there, Gigliotti simply uses the flaps to tie the bag, making an airtight seal that will keep the fries secure from freezer burns.

The hack and its simplicity were met with resounding praise from other TikTok users. Most of them wondered how they didnā€™t figure it out by themselves. You are probably wondering the same after watching the video.

Most people donā€™t see anything unusual with storing plastic wrap in their kitchen cabinets or drawers. It typically sits next to the aluminum foil, but thereā€™s a good reason to separate these two. Did you know that storing plastic wrap in the freezer can make it work better?

Here’s Why

Plastic wrap is very clingy, which is good when you want it to stick to whatever youā€™re wrapping, but not as good when it sticks to itself and you canā€™t separate the layers. Storing it in the freezer helps prevent this problem. When plastic is kept in a cold place, it’ll become less sticky for a while, at least until it starts warming up. Donā€™t worry, you can still use it as normal, but it will definitely be much easier to handle it while youā€™re wrapping the leftovers.

The coolness of the freezer will remove the static electricity, your number one enemy when working with plastic wrap. This also means you will use less of the foil because you will be able to separate the layers properly. And donā€™t forget the extra drawer spaceā€”it may not be much, but you know that every inch counts in a crowded kitchen!

We can all use some inventive tips every now and again, especially when it comes to thriving in the kitchen. If you’re still a beginner learning the ropes of cooking, here are four kitchen hacks to help you get the most out of your kitchen.

Freeze Sauces

A great way to make sure you’re always ahead of the game is to make a big batch of sauce like pesto or tomato and basil, and then freeze the leftovers. This means you’ll always have sauces when you need them. All you have to do is put them in the fridge for two hours to let them thaw.

Use Your Oven to Raise Bread

If you’re making homemade bread, you might have noticed that the bread does not always rise very well. This could be because the temperature of your kitchen is too low. If you think this might be the case, try popping it in the oven with a hot bowl of water beneath it. You should see it start to rise like never before!

Keep Ice Cream From Melting

A simple way to stop your ice cream from melting is to wrap it in bubble wrap. This helps it maintain its temperature and stay at a firm consistency for hours.

Simple Trick to Melt Butter Fast

Sometimes you need your butter soft. If you’ve forgotten to take it out of the fridge and it’s rock hard, don’t worry! A simple trick is to cut the butter into two cubes and leave it on the side for about 20 minutes. When you come back, they should be soft and ready for cooking.

Keeping your kitchen organized and functional is extremely important if you truly want to enjoy cooking and baking. Here are some of the best tips that professional chefs use for organizing their kitchen.

Use Plastic Containers

You can never have enough storage space in a kitchen, and plastic containers can help you maximize space and organize your kitchen tools and ingredients. Plastic containers with lids are great for safely storing spices and other ingredients and will make cleaning much easier.

Keep Essential Tools Within Reach

Knives, spatulas, tongs and whisks are essential kitchen tools that most people use on a daily basis. Organize your kitchen by keeping these go-to tools within reach so you can easily find them instead of digging around in drawers every time.

Date Everything

Labeling every container will help you easily find tools and items in a second and save you lots of time. Another great tip is to write the day you opened your food on every item in your fridge, such as condiments, half-used milk, etc. This way youā€™ll know when somethingā€™s not safe to use anymore.

Hamburgers are one of our favorite foods to make on the grill. This American classic patty which is now a worldwide favorite is a great treat if you’re looking to have a dinner thatā€™s a little more unhealthy and exciting than the ones you have most days.

A dry hamburger is an easy way to ruin a meal, however, so you want to do all things possible in order to avoid that. Here are some tips to ensure that your burgers will be juicier than ever!

Have you ever found yourself in a pinch in the kitchen when realizing that you just donā€™t have the equipment necessary to grind peppercorns? Well, believe it or not, thereā€™s something in your kitchen that you probably already have that will solve the dilemma.

More than once weā€™ve been given the unpleasant surprise that the container of peppercorns that we had bought at the store were not contained in a jar that also had a grinder attached. While we now have a mortar and pestle, which can solve dilemmas in a pinch, we weren’t quite sure how to fix this situation in the past.

However, if you have an old black pepper container that contains a grinder, itā€™s actually amazingly simple!

While it might seem that the grinder lids on these containers cannot be removed, there is actually a trick that will allow you to pop them right up and deposit your new peppercorns into them.

Simply by heating up the lid, either with the help of a hairdryer or by dipping it into a bowl of hot water. This will loosen up the lid, and with just a little bit of muscle, you can pop it right off!

Wasnā€™t that easy?

You might have been using your electric hand mixer for only sweet applications in the past, but the time has come for this handy little tool to step into the spotlight. Let your hand mixer help you in ways you never knew you needed.

Kiwi Slices

Getting intact pieces of kiwi into a fruit salad can be so frustrating that you skip out on the fruit altogether. Instead, use the beater of your hand mixer to do all the work for you. Cut the kiwi in half, put the beater inside the half to make sections, and twist it around until they become loose. Dump into a bowl with other fruit and the party is on!

Shredded Chicken

Shredded chicken is perfect for enchiladas, salads, even savor crepes! But shredding it by hand is annoying and tedious. Instead of wasting your time doing it by hand, just use your electric hand mixer and it’ll do all the work for you.

Veggie Dip

Mixing cream cheese for dips by hand can really give you a workout. Save yourself the effort and whenever you make a veggie dip, go in with your electric hand mixer instead. You’ll have a creamy dip in no time.
