Mushrooms on toast are a delicious way to start the day. People have different preferences for how to eat their mushrooms, and here is a recipe that everyone can agree is delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 10oz mushrooms
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 oz butter
  • 2 tablespoons of yoghurt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Heat your oil in a frying pan and add your mushrooms to the pan. Make sure not to chop them too small as they will shrink down a lot and lose their satisfying bite. Don’t add salt at this point as it will release a lot of water quickly and they could become soggy. Allow them to cook for about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Crush your garlic with a garlic crusher as it will release the flavor more. Add to the pan along with your butter. If you add butter too early, it could burn and leave a bitter taste. You can now add a pinch of salt.
  3. Once your garlic is cooked, add some freshly ground black pepper and remove from the heat.
  4. Add your yoghurt to the pan (optional). This will give your mushrooms a delicious sharpness as well as creaminess and elevate them to the next level. Salt to taste and you are ready to serve.
