The Perfect Mincemeat Recipe for Homemade Festive Recipes

  • 1 cup of raisins
  • 1 cup of sultanas
  • 1 1/2 cups of caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of black treacle
  • 2 tablespoons of candied peel
  • 4 tablespoons of water
  • 1/4 cup of chopped nuts


  1. In a large saucepan, heat the fruit, candied peel, nuts, water and sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil, and then reduce the heat.
  3. Simmer for 25 minutes, adding more water if necessary to stop it sticking.
  4. Once cooled, decant into glass jars. These will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks.
